What is FedTerm?
FedTerm is a macOS terminal that opens with a global shortcut above the application in use. It accepts commands, SSH hosts, and folder paths, then opens the appropriate terminal or coding-session workflow.
The app uses a zsh hook to record commands, turning its window into a search surface for command history and connected servers. Developers can pin servers and favourite commands, while recent history is grouped by time and repeated commands are collapsed.
FedTerm also provides local tools for Claude Code sessions. A developer can name a folder-based session, resume that exact session later, and search previous local sessions grouped by project and date.
The terminal is built for macOS and lives in the menu bar rather than the Dock. It supports tabs, customizable shortcuts, and configurable terminal appearance, while the project documents an ad-hoc local build and installation process.

Global terminal window
FedTerm opens from a global shortcut and floats above the app currently in use, including fullscreen apps and other desktops. The same window can accept a shell command, SSH host, or folder path before becoming a terminal or launching the relevant workflow.
