MuseNet is a deep neural network for generating musical compositions across various styles.
What is MuseNet?
OpenAI describes MuseNet as "a deep neural network that can generate 4-minute musical compositions with 10 different instruments" and notes it "can combine styles from country to Mozart to the Beatles." The model learned musical patterns by predicting the next token in hundreds of thousands of MIDI files and uses transformer-based architectures to model harmony, rhythm, and style.
It is presented for musicians and non-musicians and provides both simple and advanced modes: In _simple mode_(shown by default), you’ll hear random uncurated samples that we’ve pre-generated, and in advanced mode users can interact with the model directly to generate new pieces.
